How To Play Retro Solitaire - PokerNews

Do you remember playing Solitaire on your computer when you were younger? Maybe you still play it today! Here is a guide on how to play retro Solitaire - PokerNews style.

To begin, you will need a deck of 52 cards. Shuffle the deck and deal out all of the cards face down in a pile. This is your "stock." The remaining four cards are placed face up in a row next to the stock, and these are your "flowers."

The object of the game is to move all of the cards from the stock onto the flowers. You can move any card onto any other card if they are both of the same suit, for example two clubs or two spades. Ace is high and two is low.

If you cannot move any cards from the stock onto the flowers, draw one card from the top of the stock and place it face up next to the flowers. This card becomes part of the stock and can be moved like any other card. If you cannot move any cards from either the stock or flowers, then you lose!

Here is an example:

The first move is to move a 2 from the stock onto a 3 of clubs in order to create a new stack of two clubs.

The next move is to take the 4 of hearts from off of Queens and place it onto the Ace of spades in order to create a new stack of four spades. Notice how we do not have to put it onto another two or ace, we can put it anywhere as long as there is an empty spot.

Now we have two options: we can either put the 5 of clubs from off of Jacks onto either Spades or Clubs (it doesn't matter), or we can put it back on Jacks and then draw another card from Stock (since we cannot go anymore). Let's put it back on Jacks this time:

We now have three clubs in our new stack, so our next move would be to bring down another club from Stock, which would give us four clubs total. From here, we could either put another card onto our club stack, or put it somewhere else on Flowers if there was an opening (we'll do this later). For now let's just add another club:

Now that we have five clubs, our final move would be an Ace since that would give us six clubs in total - Aces are high! So let's take the Ace off of Two and place it on Five:

Now that all 52 cards are on Flowers we've completed Retro Solitaire - PokerNews style!
